Figment Forge is a small but flexible multimedia entertainment and advertisement studio based in the Greater Detroit area and well versed in telecommunication with clients across the country. Our artists combine years of experience to bring your ideas to reality with Pre-Production and Post-Production services for your film or commercial projects. Allow us to clarify your vision with concept art or storyboards that enable you to enter production confidently or to add that last touch of polish and flair that will truly make your project shine. Niles Bontrager
The man who handles the “businessy” side of things for Figment Forge, but also a one man army in digital effects production. Niles has done everything from Pre-Viz animation on Batman v. Superman, to compositing and post production for clients like Ford and AutoZone. He’s widely skilled in CGI from modeling to texturing and rendering, as well as making 2D and 3D motion graphics and animations. Niles is even known to code his own production tools to get the job done faster. If there’s a digital media production to be made, this guy can figure it out.
Mel Bontrager
The artist with an eye for quality and a hand for Pre-Production. They’ve been the driving force in design for several children’s programs, like Iesodo, NFL Rush Zone, and Camp S.M.A.S.H. They have a strong tact for expressive characters, both through design and in the writing room, and can bring your stories to life in a way that speaks to your audience. And if character isn’t exactly your project’s strong suit, Mel still has plenty of Post-Production skill to get your project done on time and dressed to impress.
Between them, Niles and Mel have over 20 years of professional experience. Both are BFA graduates of the Entertainment Arts department at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Software proficiencies include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Maya, Nuke, Substance, Unity 3D, 3DS Max, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, ZBrush and Procreate.
